THE TRAIN ON THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI
Construction of the Death Railway started in October, 1942. It's purpose was to supply the Japanese troops in Burma. Labor was supplied by over 60,000 war prisoners and forcibly recruited laborers. The engine pictured here was employed for military transport.
