A Sandy Maltese Beach

Ahhh...

A sandy, secluded beach on the Mediterranean. A place to fry your epidermis. This is Golden Bay, Malta, an inexpensive bus ride from Valletta. (Like everything else on the island.)

Except... There actually are only a few sandy beaches on Malta. The island a big rock in a sea which doesn't have much wave action. Most the coastline looks more like this...

Malta's Real Coast

Much of the Malta is actually barren coastline.

This view is below the temples at Hagar Qim. There is an arch in the center of the picture, at the water's edge. Some the rocks are actually blinds from which Maltese shoot birds, unfortunately a major sport on the island.
