Johnston Atoll is an unincorporated territory of the United States located in the central Pacific Ocean about 1,300 kilometers southwest of Hawaii. The atoll consists of several small islands surrounding a lagoon and has been used in the past for military activities and environmental cleanup operations. Today Johnston Atoll is uninhabited and part of the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument.

Johnston Atoll does not have a public electrical grid. The atoll is uninhabited and has no permanent infrastructure or installed electrical outlets. Temporary visits bring portable power equipment when needed.
