The basic setup is straightforward: a flat sleeping surface, window privacy, bedding suited to the weather, enough battery for Camp Mode, and a legal place to park. Everything else is an addition to those five essentials.
Sleeping in a Tesla
Fold the rear seats down and make the cargo area as flat as possible. A fitted mattress, foam pad, or inflatable car mattress works better than trying to build a bed from loose blankets. Check the dimensions for the exact Tesla model before buying because cargo areas and seat layouts differ.

Camp Mode comfort
Tesla Camp Mode maintains the cabin temperature while the vehicle is parked and keeps the USB and low-voltage outlets available for electronics. Battery use varies with the weather, temperature setting, vehicle, and length of the stop, so begin the night with a sensible charge margin and know where the next charger is.
Camp Mode makes Tesla sleeping much more practical, but it does not replace bedding, privacy covers, a parking plan, or basic judgment about weather and surroundings.
Privacy and window covers
Window covers are one of the first things to buy. They block lights, add privacy, and make the interior feel like a sleeping space instead of a glass display case. Model-specific covers generally fit better and leave fewer gaps than generic shades.

Bedding and pillows
The mattress creates the surface; the bedding makes it comfortable. Compact pillows, layered blankets, a sleeping bag, or a small comforter are easier to store than normal household bedding. Layers work especially well because temperatures can change during the night.
Coolers and food storage
A basic cooler is enough for a short overnight trip. For longer travel, a powered car cooler or portable refrigerator can keep drinks, groceries, and temperature-sensitive items organized. Check its power requirements and make sure it does not interfere with the sleeping area.
Camp chairs and outside comfort
The Tesla may be the bedroom, but it does not have to be the entire campsite. Compact chairs and a small folding table make meals, charging stops, and campground time far more comfortable without filling the cargo area with full-size camping furniture.
Road-trip electronics
Phone, media, and screen accessories are not essential sleeping gear, but they can make long drives and charging stops easier. Keep this category separate from the core camping setup so electronics do not crowd out the mattress, bedding, and privacy gear.
