Walkabout Travel Gear

CYBERTRAVEL LINKS

That was how Walkabout Travel Gear introduced its Cybertravel Links on the 1995 homepage. Back then, independent websites routinely pointed their readers toward other useful corners of the web. Search engines were primitive, social media did not exist, and a good links page could send you wandering for hours.

More than twenty-five years later, Cybertravel Links is back. These are independent travel sites, official resources, and other places on the web we think are worth visiting.

This page revives both the Cybertravel Links identity and the structure of our 1995 links page rather than trying to reproduce its enormous directory of long-dead websites, airlines, and railroads.

A note about the archive: Walkabout Travel Gear went online in 1995, before the Internet Archive began collecting websites. That is why there is no Wayback Machine capture from our first year online. One of the earliest surviving captures is from December 23, 1996, showing Walkabout Travel Gear as an online travel-gear catalog and information source. See the 1996 Walkabout Travel Gear homepage in the Wayback Machine.

These links are selected editorially. They are not reciprocal-link arrangements, and inclusion does not imply a business relationship or endorsement by the linked site. External sites change, so verify current official requirements before traveling.
