Gaza Travel Adapters

Type C & Type H • 230 volts • 50 Hz

Gaza is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Its name first appears in the military records of Egyptian pharaoh Thutmose III in the 15th century BC, and archaeological evidence points to roughly 5,000 years of continuous settlement on the site. For most of that history, Gaza sat on the Mediterranean coastal route linking North Africa and the Levant.

The Gaza Strip is a narrow Palestinian territory on the Mediterranean coast, about 25 miles long and only 4 to 7 miles wide. It borders Israel to the north and east and Egypt to the southwest, near the city of Rafah. Gaza City, on the coast, serves as both the territory's capital and largest city.

Gaza uses mains electricity supplied at 230 volts at 50 Hz. Wall outlets use Type C and Type H. Travelers from regions that use different plug types need a travel adapter for Type C or Type H; equipment that is not dual voltage requires an appropriate voltage converter.

Adapter may also be spelled adaptor. Converter may be spelled convertor. Grounded may also be described as earthed.
Gaza uses Type C and Type H outlets. Type H is a grounded, three round-pin plug used almost exclusively in Israel and the Palestinian territories; Type C plugs also fit Type H sockets.

Gaza Travel Adapter FAQ

Do I need a voltage converter for Gaza?

Only if your device isn't dual voltage. Most phones, laptops, and cameras are rated for 100–240V and only need a plug adapter for Gaza's outlets. High-wattage single-voltage appliances, like hair dryers, straighteners, or some CPAP machines, need a voltage converter, not just an adapter. Check the device label for its voltage rating before you travel.

Can I use my US phone charger in Gaza?

Most modern phone and laptop chargers are rated for 100–240V, so they work on Gaza's 230V supply without a separate converter. You'll still need a plug adapter, since the charger's US plug won't physically fit Gaza's outlets.

Are Gaza and US power outlets interchangeable?

No. Gaza uses Type C and Type H outlets and the US uses Type A/B. The plug shapes are different, and Gaza runs at 230V compared to 120V in the US, so a plug adapter alone is only safe for devices that already support both voltages.

Does Gaza use more than one plug type?

Yes. Gaza uses two plug types: Type C, a two round-pin Europlug, and Type H, a grounded plug unique to Israel and the Palestinian territories with three pins arranged in a narrow triangle. Type C plugs also fit directly into Type H sockets, so either adapter will work throughout the territory.
