Herzegovina Travel Adapters
Type C & Type F • 230 volts • 50 Hz
The Stari Most, a 16th-century Ottoman stone bridge in Mostar, was shelled and collapsed into the Neretva River in November 1993 during the Bosnian War. It was rebuilt using original construction techniques and reopened in 2004, and UNESCO added the bridge and the surrounding old city to its World Heritage list the following year, citing it as a symbol of reconciliation and coexistence.
Herzegovina is a historical region in the southern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina in southeastern Europe. The region is known for its mountainous landscapes, Mediterranean climate in some areas, and historic towns such as Mostar. Today Herzegovina is not a separate country but a region within Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Herzegovina uses the same electrical system as Bosnia and Herzegovina, with mains electricity supplied at 230 volts at 50 Hz. Wall outlets use Type C and Type F. Travelers from regions that use different plug types need a travel adapter for Type C or Type F; equipment that is not dual voltage requires an appropriate voltage converter.

Adapter may also be spelled adaptor. Converter may be spelled convertor. Grounded may also be described as earthed.
Herzegovina uses Type C and Type F outlets. An adapter rated for Type F will also fit Type C sockets. Type F adapters are also known as Schuko style.

Do I need a voltage converter for Herzegovina?
Only if your device isn't dual voltage. Most phones, laptops, and cameras are rated for 100–240V and only need a plug adapter for Herzegovina's outlets. High-wattage single-voltage appliances, like hair dryers, straighteners, or some CPAP machines, need a voltage converter, not just an adapter. Check the device label for its voltage rating before you travel.
Can I use my US phone charger in Herzegovina?
Most modern phone and laptop chargers are rated for 100–240V, so they work on Herzegovina's 230V supply without a separate converter. You'll still need a plug adapter, since the charger's US plug won't physically fit Herzegovina's outlets.
Are Herzegovina and US power outlets interchangeable?
No. Herzegovina uses Type C and Type F outlets and the US uses Type A/B. The plug shapes are different, and Herzegovina runs at 230V compared to 120V in the US, so a plug adapter alone is only safe for devices that already support both voltages.
Does Herzegovina use more than one plug type?
Yes. Herzegovina uses two plug types: Type C, a two round-pin Europlug, and Type F, a grounded Schuko-style plug with two earthing clips. An adapter rated for Type F will also fit Type C sockets, so either one will work throughout the region.
