Ionian Islands Travel Adapters
Type C & Type F • 230 volts • 50 Hz
The Ionian Islands are a group of Greek islands located in the Ionian Sea off the western coast of mainland Greece. The islands include Corfu, Kefalonia, Zakynthos, Lefkada, and several smaller islands. Known for their green landscapes, beaches, and historic towns, the Ionian Islands are a popular travel destination in Greece.
The Ionian Islands use mains electricity supplied at 230 volts at 50 Hz. Wall outlets use Type C and Type F. Travelers from regions that use different plug types need a travel adapter for Type C or Type F; equipment that is not dual voltage requires an appropriate voltage converter.

Adapter may also be spelled adaptor. Converter may be spelled convertor. Grounded may also be described as earthed.
The Ionian Islands use Type C and Type F outlets throughout the islands. An adapter rated for Type F will also fit Type C sockets. Type F adapters are also known as Schuko style.

Do I need a voltage converter for the Ionian Islands?
Only if your device isn't dual voltage. Most phones, laptops, and cameras are rated for 100–240V and only need a plug adapter for the Ionian Islands' outlets. High-wattage single-voltage appliances, like hair dryers, straighteners, or some CPAP machines, need a voltage converter, not just an adapter. Check the device label for its voltage rating before you travel.
Can I use my US phone charger in the Ionian Islands?
Most modern phone and laptop chargers are rated for 100–240V, so they work on the Ionian Islands' 230V supply without a separate converter. You'll still need a plug adapter, since the charger's US plug won't physically fit the Ionian Islands' outlets.
Are Ionian Islands and US power outlets interchangeable?
No. The Ionian Islands use Type C and Type F outlets and the US uses Type A/B. The plug shapes are different, and the Ionian Islands run at 230V compared to 120V in the US, so a plug adapter alone is only safe for devices that already support both voltages.
Do the Ionian Islands use more than one plug type?
Yes. The Ionian Islands use two plug types: Type C, a two round-pin Europlug, and Type F, a grounded Schuko-style plug with two earthing clips. An adapter rated for Type F will also fit Type C sockets, so either one will work throughout the islands.
