Type N plugs are a modern grounded plug system defined by the Brazilian standard ABNT NBR 14136 and the harmonized South African standard SANS 164-2. The design supports improved safety and standardized pin spacing compared to older regional plug types.

Adapters do not convert voltage.
A Type N travel adapter, also commonly sold as a Type N travel adaptor or ABNT NBR 14136 adaptor plug, changes plug shape only. It does not convert voltage.
This grounded adapter accepts not just U.S. plugs but plug styles from all countries, except Type M South Africa plugs. However, Type E/F Schuko-style plugs will not be grounded.
