Borneo is the third-largest island in the world and is divided among three countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei. Indonesian Borneo is known as Kalimantan, while Malaysian Borneo includes Sabah and Sarawak, along with the federal territory of Labuan. Brunei occupies a smaller area on the island's north coast.
Because Borneo is divided among three national electrical systems, plug types vary by region. Indonesian Borneo uses Type C and Type F outlets at 230 volts and 50 Hz. Malaysian Borneo and Brunei primarily use Type G outlets at 240 volts and 50 Hz.
Travelers should choose an adapter for the part of Borneo they are visiting. A travel adapter changes the plug shape only and does not convert voltage. Devices marked for 100–240V input can be used with the correct adapter; equipment that is not dual voltage requires an appropriate voltage converter.
