Timor-Leste (East Timor) Travel Adapters
Type C, Type E/F & Type I • 220 volts • 50 Hz
Timor-Leste, also known as East Timor, uses mains electricity supplied at 220 volts at 50 Hz. Wall outlets vary by building and use four plug standards: Type C, Type E, and Type F (all of which share the same round two-pin Europlug shape, so a single Type E/F adapter covers both Type E and Type F outlets), and Type I (the Australian-style three-pin plug). Travelers only need two adapter shapes to cover the whole country: one Type C/E/F adapter and one Type I adapter.
Travelers from the U.S. using Type A or Type B plugs need a travel adapter for Timor-Leste that covers both the Type C/E/F outlets and the Type I outlets. A travel adapter changes the plug shape only and does not convert voltage. Devices marked for 100–240V input can be used on Timor-Leste's 220V supply with the correct adapter; equipment that is not dual voltage requires an appropriate voltage converter.
What Plug Type Does Timor-Leste Use?

Adapter may also be spelled adaptor. Converter may be spelled convertor. Grounded may also be described as earthed.
Timor-Leste uses Type C, Type E, Type F, and Type I outlets. Type E and Type F outlets both accept the same plug as Type C, so the Type C prong on the adapter above covers all three, and its Type I prong covers Timor-Leste's Type I outlets, so the adapter above covers the whole country.

Do I need a voltage converter for Timor-Leste?
Only if your device isn't dual voltage. Most phones, laptops, and cameras are rated for 100–240V and only need a plug adapter for Timor-Leste's outlets. High-wattage single-voltage appliances, like hair dryers, straighteners, or some CPAP machines, need a voltage converter, not just an adapter. Check the device label for its voltage rating before you travel.
Can I use my US phone charger in Timor-Leste?
Phone and laptop chargers use a universal 100–240V power supply, so yours will work on Timor-Leste's 220V supply without a separate converter. You'll still need a plug adapter, since the charger's US plug won't physically fit Timor-Leste's outlets.
Are Timor-Leste and US power outlets interchangeable?
No. Timor-Leste uses Type C, E/F, and I outlets and the US uses Type A/B. The plug shapes are different, and Timor-Leste runs at 220V compared to 120V in the US, so a plug adapter alone is only safe for devices that already support both voltages.
Does Timor-Leste use more than one plug type?
Yes. Timor-Leste's wall outlets come in four physical styles: Type C, Type E, Type F, and Type I. Type C, Type E, and Type F all accept the same round two-pin plug, so a combined Type E/F adapter covers both Type E and Type F outlets; in practice you only need two adapter shapes to cover the whole country, one Type C/E/F adapter and one Type I adapter.
