Caribbean Travel Adapter: Island Hopping Without the Plug Surprises
The Caribbean is where plugs get interesting. Most islands use the same flat-blade plugs as the US, but the Type G islands and the French islands do their own thing, and plenty of islands run on 220–240V. Hop between them and one universal adapter saves the day. Watch the voltage.
The Short Answer
Type G islands: Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines use Type G.- Easiest: one Ceptics adapter covers every island on this page. It does not fit Type D outlets. If you meet one, use the Type D adapter below.
Visiting from Europe with grounded Type E/F (Schuko) plugs: bring a grounded Type E/F to Type B adapter for the A/B islands. Everyone else: bring a Type B adapter.- Voltage, the real trap: Antigua and Barbuda, the Type G islands, Guadeloupe, and Martinique use 220–240V. A plug adapter does not convert voltage. Check for 100–240V on the label, or see voltage below.
One Adapter for Every Island
Visiting from Europe? Grounded Type E/F to Type B
Everyone Else: Type B Adapter
The Type B adapter shown here accepts plug styles from most countries. South African Type M plugs do not fit. Grounded Type E and Type F (Schuko) plugs do not fit either. Use the Europe adapter above.

Voltage in the Caribbean
110–120V: Anguilla, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Saba, Sint Eustatius, Sint Maarten, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
127V: Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao. Devices rated 110V or 120V generally work there without a converter.
220–240V: Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. A 120V-only device needs a voltage converter on these islands unless it is dual voltage.
See the voltage guide and dual-voltage appliances before you pack the hair dryer.
Adapter may also be spelled adaptor, and grounded may also be described as earthed. See all international plug types.
