Asia Travel Adapter: Thirty-Two Countries, One Adapter
Asia covers a lot of ground and a lot of outlets. Two round pins get you through most of it, Japan and Taiwan run on US-style plugs, and Hong Kong, Singapore, and much of South Asia lean on Type G and its cousins. One universal adapter covers every country here. Mind the voltage.
The Short Answer
China uses Type A and Type I.
Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, and Sri Lanka use Type G.- Easiest: the Ceptics adapter covers Type A, C, G, and I, and every country on this page uses at least one of them. It does not fit Type D or Type M outlets. If you meet one, use the Type D or Type M adapter below.
Visiting from Europe with grounded Type E/F (Schuko) plugs: bring a grounded Type E/F to Type B adapter for Japan, Taiwan, and the other Type A/B countries. Everyone else: bring a Type B adapter.- Voltage: nearly all of Asia uses 220–240V. Japan is 100V and Taiwan is 110–120V. A plug adapter does not convert voltage. See voltage below.

Visiting from Europe? Grounded Type E/F to Type B
Everyone Else: Type B Adapter
The Type B adapter shown here accepts plug styles from most countries. South African Type M plugs do not fit. Grounded Type E and Type F (Schuko) plugs do not fit either. Use the Europe adapter above.

Voltage in Asia
100V: Japan. 110–120V: Taiwan.
220–240V: every other country on this page. A 120V-only device needs a voltage converter in these countries unless it is dual voltage.
See the voltage guide and dual-voltage appliances before you pack the hair dryer.
Adapter may also be spelled adaptor, and grounded may also be described as earthed. See all international plug types.
